IEEE Young Professionals is an international community of enthusiastic, dynamic, and innovative members and volunteers. IEEE is committed to helping young professionals evaluate their career goals, polish their professional image, and create the building blocks of a lifelong and diverse professional network.

Beginning January 1, 2014, IEEE rolled out a change in the IEEE GOLD EMC program. It is now called IEEE Young Professionals EMC and is defined as IEEE members who “graduated with their first professional degree within the last 15 years.” An opt-in option will be available under the membership area of the IEEE application for membership for interested members that do not meet the criteria. The reason for this change was that “IEEE GOLD” was not instantly recognized as a Young Professionals Group. Our goal is to continue to increase member awareness of IEEE products and engagement in IEEE activities.

Furthermore, the program cutoff has been extended to 15 years instead of the previous 10 in recognition of the fact that many students have to render public services such as military service and/or are working towards higher education. This change also removes the age criteria with the “opt-in” option. The IEEE Young Professionals program wants to ensure those that who enter the workforce later can integrate with the Young Professionals community. The opt-in option will be rolled out in August 2014 and will be a line item (free of charge) to be added to your IEEE membership shopping cart.

Many exciting Young Professional activities are scheduled for the 2015 IEEE International Symposium on EMC in Santa Clara, California. Each year, we devote considerable time to organizing different social events and career development training. Remember to make sure to look and sign up for events during your registration for the Symposium.  Please contact Caroline Chan via email if you have any questions or consult the link at the bottom of this page.

Feel free to check the IEEE YP Facebook Page for info and updates on scheduled Young Professionals EMC webinars and other news.
