Elite and Keysight are hosting a 1-day workshop covering the history of wireless technologies, current applications to the Internet of Things (IoT), and the regulatory compliance processes for North America and Europe. Keysight will also be demonstrating their EMPro 3D electromagnetic simulation software to help overcome EMC/EMI challenges during the design phase.

Evolution of Wireless

Presented by Stewart Forsyth - Lead Technologist at Keysight

This presentation is a high-level overview of the evolution of the wireless standards for Cellular and WLAN 802.11 applications. We will compare the differences in frequency bands, bandwidth, and other technologies that have enabled adnvaces from TDMA to W-CDMA , LTE, and soon 5G.
We will cover some of the different test challenges that we see in these different standards, including RF performance tests, such as RF power, spurious emissions, and intermodulation.

Internet of Things (IoT)

Presented by Stewart Forsyth - Lead Technologist at Keysight

This presentation will focus on IoT and background on developments in Bluetooth, ZigBee, NFC, LoRa, and links to Cellular. We will talk about the different applications for these technologies such as ZigBee for home automation and remote control or NFC for contactless payment. We will compare the similarities and differences in the Physical Layer tests required for some of these technologies. Keysight's products and services to help perform these tests successfully will be summarized.

Regulatory Compliance Procedures in North America and Europe

Presented by Steve Laya - Regulatory Specialist at Elite Electronic Engineering

This presentation is an overview of wireless regulations for FCC, Canada, and European Union compliance. For FCC/Canada the topics will include the certification process for transmitters and the conformity assessment required for devices which incorporate pre-certified modules. For the European Union CE Mark this presentation will cover the basics of the Radio Equipment Directive. Attendees will learn about the conformity assessment process for transmitters, receivers, and the use of existing conformity data on radio modules.

Cost: This is a free event, but registration is required to attend.
