Please join the IEEE EMC Southeast Michigan Section for their monthly technical meeting in Canton, MI on August 16. Elite's Steve Laya will be presenting about regulatory compliance for wireless devices and Elite is sponsoring food and beverages for attendees.

"Wireless Connectivity and Transmitter Regulatory Compliance"

In this presentation, Steve will provide an overview of the wireless technology currently in place to enable connectivity solutions for a variety of applications. He will outline the more common radio protocols such as WiFi, Cellular, and Bluetooth. He will also discuss how they are implemented either as modules or as integrated RF electronic systems. Since wireless transmitters use RF spectrum their operations are regulated by government requirements - for example, by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the US and by the Radio Equipment Directive in Europe. He will discuss the regulatory certification process for North America and Europe and step through the process manufacturers need to complete in order to get their wireless-enabled hardware to market.

Steve Laya is Elite’s Sales and Marketing Manager. In addition to his technical sales and leadership responsibilities he also drives the development of new services for Elite. His specialized area of knowledge includes compliance regulations for wireless devices and digital systems. He is a member of the IEEE EMC Society and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Mr. Laya received his engineering degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana (1983).
