EMC Testing for Heavy Equipment
For component or whole vehicle testing, Elite has the complete program in place to conduct testing for the heavy vehicle industry. Test capabilities include component level (EMC equipment and Environmental) to whole vehicle EMC equipment testing in our large indoor RF test chamber.
- Truck - Freightliner, International, Mack, Paccar, Volvo
- Construction & Ag - Caterpillar, CNH, Deere, Volvo, Komatsu
- Military - AM General, CAT, Oshkosh
- Fire Trucks & Emergency Vehicles - Pierce, E-One, Crash Rescue
- European Union “E-mark” testing of component and whole vehicles
- Component EMC and Environmental
Truck Industry Testing
Elite is recognized by the industry leaders such as Freightliner, International, Mack, Paccar, and Volvo North America for testing electronic subassemblies and whole vehicles. Elite test equipment is capable of achieving the unique requirements for this industry including high RF susceptibility test levels and SAE J1455 load dump, mutual coupling, and inductive switching.
Agricultural Industry Testing
Elite supports agricultural industry testing to OEM specifications. For European Union compliance of agricultural and forestry machines and electronic subassemblies, we perform all tests specified in EN 14982. For these devices the manufacturer can self-declare compliance with the EMC equipment directive 2014/30/EU and CE Mark the product. Similarly, for agricultural tractors Elite can complete testing in accordance with the “e” marking requirements of 2009/64/EC and 2000/2/EC and E-mark for UNECE Reg 10.5.
Construction Industry Testing
Elite has capabilities to perform testing to the following specifications:
- Caterpillar EC-1 & EC-42
- Case New Holland ENS0310
- John Deere 53.3

Marine Society Testing
Elite is recognized by the industry leaders such as Caterpillar (EC-29), Cummins (CES 14293), Mercury Marine, and Bombardier (OMC) for the testing of electronic subassemblies, engines and boats. Elite test equipment is capable of achieving the unique requirements for this industry including high RF susceptibility test levels along with the ESD, Surge, EFT, RF conducted Immunity and other IEC 61000-xx series tests required by the marine electronics industry.
Whole Vehicle Testing
Elite is the best equipped testing facility for whole vehicles in North America for a very simple reason: we operate the largest and most flexible third-party RF-shielded chambers in the country. With over 20 years experience testing vehicles and large systems, we can configure our facilities, testing programs and equipment in ways nobody else can. Elite also has two ALSEs (Absorber Lined Shielded Enclosures) designed for vehicle and machine testing.
RM#22: This chamber has the dimensions of 70’ x 33’ x 18’ (l x w x h) with a 16’ x 16’ door. This chamber is designed for the larger vehicles such as Class 8 Trucks, Fire Trucks, Tractors, Combines, Pickers, Construction and Forestry Equipment, Boats, and Earth Moving machinery.
RM#23: This chamber has the dimensions of 31’ x 23’ x 18’ (l x w x h) with a 11’ x 9’ (w x h) door. This chamber is used for the smaller vehicles such as Skid Steers, Smaller Farm Equipment, Lawn Tractors, Motorcycles, Engines, Outboard Engines, ATVs.
Both Vehicle Test Chambers Utilize:
- 3 meter CISPR 12 and SAE J551 emissions measurement with a low RF ambient (this is also done on Elite's OTS (Outdoor Test Site)
- Field strengths at +200V/m from 10kHz-18GHz
- Engine exhaust ventilation systems powerful enough to remove engine exhaust without a physical connection to the vehicle itself.
- Multi-camera video monitoring system
- Configurable cooling water for testing engines and outboards
