Proving lithium battery cell durability during transportation by air and ground
Regulations require tests be performed on primary lithium and lithium ion cells and batteries. The tests are based on the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods Model Regulations and UN Manual of Tests and Criteria and include the following:
- UN Manual of Tests and Criteria Part III, Sub-Section 38.3
- T1: Altitude
- T2: Thermal Cycle
- T3: Vibration
- T4: Shock
- T5: Short Circuit
- T7: Overcharge
- Altitude and Thermal Cycle “T” tests
- Vibration “T” tests
Elite routinely performs all “T” tests in accordance with the UN Recommendations including the open circuit voltage and mass loss evaluations. We can test single sets of batteries for all tests or combine multiple sets of samples in our large thermal and altitude chamber. Similarly, we can arrange multiple sets of batteries on our vibration slip tables.
